Hello ILASFAA,

By now I hope all of you have been able to take advantage of some of the perks of being an ILASFAA member. Whether it was the fall remote conference programming, diversity round tables, or the FSA debriefing we have had several opportunities for you to get value from your ILASFAA membership. Today, I am inviting you to register for the upcoming 2023 annual conference March 13th to the 15th at the IHotel in Champaign, IL on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus. Please come and mingle with fellow financial aid professionals and learn about the exciting and somewhat anxiety inducing changes to the financial aid world.

One major highlight of this year’s conference will be the discussion around transitioning to an institutional membership model from our current individual model. Because of this important topic, you will notice that there is not an ILASFAA membership fee being charged as part of the conference registration. If adopted, the institutional membership process would be an annual bill to the institution for a membership rate based on the institutions enrollment. This is the same model being used by MASFAA and NASFAA. That is why it is even more important that you attend the next conference to participate in the discussion of the future of our association.

Registration Overview

Early bird registration is now live and available until February 14, 2023. Attendees and Exhibitors have different registration fees. This year we are offering single day registration on Tuesday March 14th for individuals who can't attend the entire conference. Members should note that the conference registration fee does not include ILASFAA's annual membership. Membership fees will be collected in June 2023.

Health and Safety Policy

Though there is no mask mandate in the state of Illinois or at the iHotel – masks are encouraged for everyone attending ILASFAA – even for those already fully vaccinated. In an effort to make attendees comfortable we are using a traffic light COVID comfort system.


Green light: comfortable with pre-COVID behavior (handshakes, high-fives, etc)

Yellow Light:  Being cautious (comfortable talking but not touching)

Red light: observing social distancing (keeping your distance)

Update: Due to high demand the I-Hotel is now fully booked for the conference. However, attendees can book a room at a nearby hotel. Below are a few hotel options within a few minutes of the conference center.

  • Snack:

    • Soft pretzel with variety of soda provided.

    • Eggplant Involtini

      • Served with Vegetable Couscous and Light Tomato Sauce

    • Parm and Panko Crusted Chicken

      • Served with Roasted Garlic Red Mashed Potato and seasonal sauteed vegetables with herbed olive oil.
